Hi fellow wanderer. My name is Allen Ohlstein. I work and live in Little Rock, Arkansas, while my darling wife and daughter remain in my former abode in Leaveworth, Kansas. I have also been blessed with 3 wonderful sons who live in Virginia, Kansas, and Ohio respectively.
My vocation is serving as an ordained Deacon at Trinity Episcopal Church in Little Rock. After careers in the US Army, in state government in Kansas, in the private sector, and in the world of not-for-profits, I finally find myself in a work environment that I love totally.
Deacons are, as the Episcopal Church’s Presiding Bishop once said, “holy nags” that nip at the heels of both the clergy and the laity … reminding them that there is a big world outside the church which needs help. Helping others, and “nagging” others to join in this glorious work, is what I love most (except for my wife Kim of course).
Hi Allen:
Welcome to the world of blogging. I am learning about social networking so it can help me develope better relationships, a new business and “nag” the world about the Kingdom of God. It is nice to know another deacon who embraces this call of nagging.
Nagging is not a pleasant job as you well know. Cannot wait to hear more about your ministry. Is the family coming there soon?
